Validation
Validation checks country codes, allowed digits, length, and formatting rules. It is useful for reducing entry errors, but it cannot prove that a number is active or belongs to a person.
Verification
Verification asks the owner to complete an action, such as entering a one-time SMS code. Only use it with clear consent and a legitimate purpose.
